The Mandala (Sanskrit for “circle” or “completion”) has a long history and is recognized for its deep spiritual meaning and representation of wholeness. Mandalas can be seen all around us, they are larger than life. The “circle with a center” pattern is the basic structure of creation that is reflected from the micro to the macro in the world as we know it, but they also represent a larger ecosystem and universe that exceeds our consciousness. Carl Jung has called it “a representation of the unconscious self”. The mandala is widely recognized as a meaningful reflection of its creator.
Some people said that anyone can create a mandala if you allow yourself to have fun and be creative. Just make a mark in the center of a piece of paper and work around it in radiating concentric patterns.
Don’t think about what you are doing – just choose simple lines and marks and before long, you will have filled the page and will find yourself reaching for another. Very few people are born with natural artistic talent and must attend some form of additional schooling if they wish to enhance technique. After all art is about expressing your inner self and having joy and fun…
